Jessica sees herself as a very innovative Card and Gift designer; she prides herself on looking for gaps in the market rather than conforming to current trends. Her target audience is mainly young adults however her work has the ability to appeal to all ages. Her work is textually based but she is also enthusiastic about using digital methods, combined together they prove to create an overall interesting injection to the market. When Jessica has finished her education she plans to acquire a job in the card and gift industry for commercial and mass produced designs, this is to gain experience in the gift market, so she will then have the knowledge required to branch into freelance work. Within 5 years she hopes to be successful in creating her own well-known brand. Jessica prides herself on creating passionate designs, which are individual and have a very personal feel; she wants to create designs to feed her passion, not for money.

I specialise in fashion fabrics and I’m currently in the process of creating a collection of printed lengths for Spring/ Summer 2013. My theme is called Allergenic and is based on the allergies of summer. I’ve looked at plant cells under the microscope and drew from plants, flower sap and molecules. I’ve completed my drawings and layouts and I’m at the stage of sampling in the dye lab and testing colours. I will be using a mix of techniques from traditional screen printing to digital designs. For my final show I have been sponsored by Kemtex Industrial Supplies which has helped me source dyes and technique kits that will help with my backgrounds. I have also confirmed internships for over the summer at Amanda Kelly and Mirjam Rouden; I previously gained work experience in London studios; Pattern Textiles and Keeler Gordon.

I am currently studying at Cleveland College of Art and Design, doing a Degree in Textiles and Surface Design. I am half way through my Final Major Project and I'm specialising in fashion fabric prints. I hope to become a fashion fabric designer and work my way up in the design industry. I have a huge passion for printing and love trying out new techniques and experimenting with my designs.
When I finish this year I will be moving to London to complete a series of work placements/Internship, I will then gain industry experience that could then lead to exciting opputunities.
My Final Major project is all about colour and texture. I have named it 'Natural Abstration'. I want my final collection of prints to be eye catching and reflect my spring/summer theme and fashion awareness research.

I am currently working on my final major project which is a collection of printed lengths for fashion. The work I have been producing is full of colour, using lots of overprinting and metallics on luxurious fabrics with contrasting patches of jewels, sequins and embroidery. The use of colour is vital to my work and I have a real attention to detail through all aspects of my work from the initial drawing stages through to final designs. I like to keep up to date with current trends and markets and enjoy creating concept boards; this strong starting point is needed to develop a strong collection of designs. When I graduate I want to spend some time doing internships at design studios to learn more about the industry.

For my final show I have been sponsored by Madeira threads who have supplied my with embroidery threads the use in the work I will be producing for my degree show, which will be very detailed and hand embroidered illustrations. When I graduate I want to pursue my love of illustration and become a freelance illustrator.
